TOPCON

TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) cell technology is a high-efficiency crystalline silicon solar cell technology. By fabricating an ultra-thin tunneling oxide layer (1-2 nm) and a doped polysilicon layer on the rear side of the cell, it forms a passivated contact structure. This significantly reduces recombination at the metal contact regions while maintaining excellent contact properties, thereby greatly improving the efficiency of solar cells.

Advantages of TOPCon Technology

High Efficiency

The theoretical efficiency limit of TOPCon cells is as high as 28.7%, significantly surpassing the 24.5% of PERC cells.

Excellent Bifaciality

TOPCon cells exhibit superior bifacial performance, with rear-side efficiency reaching over 80% of the front-side efficiency.

Low Temperature Coefficient

TOPCon cells have a low temperature coefficient, ensuring better performance in high-temperature environments.

Low Light-Induced Degradation (LID)

TOPCon cells based on N-type silicon substrates show no light-induced degradation, ensuring long-term stable power output.

High Compatibility

TOPCon technology is compatible with existing PERC production lines, enabling cost-effective upgrades.

Progress So Far

Leading photovoltaic companies such as Trina Solar, JinkoSolar, and JA Solar are actively promoting the industrialization of TOPCon technology, with GW-scale production capacity already established.
According to industry forecasts, the market share of TOPCon cells will rapidly increase, and it is expected to become the mainstream technology in the photovoltaic market within the next five years.
